TOEInty DUBBING COMPETITION



MECHANICS FOR DUBBING COMPETITION

  1. Open to all individual ages 10 and above.
  2. Participants will partake in a live dubbing competition on stage featuring anime films and episodes/titles made by TOEI Animation.
  3. A pre-registration form for those who will be joining will be made available online thru the company’s website and its affiliate organizations.
  4. A Pre-screening session will take place on Nov. 4, 2006 starting at 10:00am at TOEI Animation Phils, Inc. 9th floor Cybermall, Eastwood Libis.
  5. Only 20 contestants will participate in the Qualifying Rounds, to be held at the TOEINTY ANIME Celebration on November 18, 2006
  6. Only 5 contestants will make it to the finals, on the same day.
  7. All videos and script materials will be provided by TOEI Animation
  8. Dubbing will be in Japanese/English to Filipino.
  9. Prizes will be: 1st - P5,000. 2nd - P3,000 and 3rd - P1,000. They will also receive trophies, an exclusive tour of TOEI Animation, Philippines and a chance to be recognized as a potential Voice Talent for Dubbing. Consolation prizes will be available for those who make it to the finals.

CONTEST PROPER

PRE-SCREENING

  1. All Contestants will undergo Pre-Screening Auditions on a 1st come first serve basis.
  2. Each of the participants will choose from a random video file number to voice act character/s from episodes/titles of TOEI Animation
  3. A contestant will be given a chance to review the file twice before judging starts.
  4. Scripts are translated from Japanese/English to Filipino
  5. Once the judging starts there will be no re-take and replay.
  6. Pre-screening tests will be based on the following:

    • Voice Quality
    • Timeliness and Accuracy
    • Voice Acting Ability

  7. A certificate and golden ticket to the finals will be awarded to each of the 20 finalists.
  8. Once the 20 Finalists has been chosen all other contestants will be forfeited, and auditions will be stopped.

FINALS

  1. Each of the 20 Finalists will do live dubbing on stage.
  2. Finalists will choose from two video categories – male and/or female characters
  3. Each video file will be at least 30 seconds long.
  4. All finalists will be given a chance to review their materials before judging starts.
  5. Scripts are translated from Japanese/English to Filipino
  6. Once the judging starts there will be no re-take and replay.
  7. The Contest will be based on the following Criteria:

    • Voice Quality - 25%
    • Timing and Accuracy (Synching Ability)- 25%
    • Voice Characterization and Voice Acting Ability - 35%
    • Over-all Impact - 15%

  8. Only 5 contestants will make it to the Finals.

MAGIC 5 FINALS

  1. The Magic 5 will dub impromptu style.
  2. Without the aid of any script, the finalists will invent their own lines in Filipino, based on the materials they picked.
  3. They will each be given two reviews of the material they choose at random.
  4. Materials may contain two or more characters from any TOEI Animation title.
  5. Judging will be based on the following Criteria:

    • Creativity and Spontaneity - 30%
    • Timing and Accuracy (Synching Ability) - 20%
    • Voice Characterization and Voice Acting Ability - 30%
    • Over-all Impact - 20%

  6. A playback of each performance will reveal the Contestant’s talents to the judges.
